MEET THE MANAGEMENT
Just as Stewart, the father of two sons, cares for his customers, he also cements long term relationships with the eight Coastal employees.
When Stewart’s not working, he and his family enjoy water sports at a vacation home in Lake Gaston. He also likes camping in his ’89 VW Westy.
Stewart holds a doctorate in Automotive Management. He is also a native Norfolkian, with a large extended family nearby. “After they
made dirt, Coastal Import came next.” That is how long I have been here.”

Curtis Cobb joined Coastal 17 years ago. He has been part of the automotive industry for 40 years. Curtis oversees the full operation of the front-office from scheduling and assigning techs, to purchasing parts and maintaining inventory control, but most of all, assuring all customers receive the utmost customer service.
“I love my job. I get to know the customers personally. They are #1 and it is our goal to give them the best service possible! I want to always stay abreast of new technology and the automotive industry by studying and taken classes when available.”
Lawrence is the newest staff member to join the Coastal Import family. A native Norfolkian, Lawrence graduated from Granby High school class of 87, and received his BS & BA in Human Resources from ODU. Married for 22 years, Lawrence has two children, and has been a percussionist for 38 years. Lawrence’s background includes 7 years working with suspension, steering, and structural analysis.
This place reminds me of ‘Cheers’ where everybody knows your name. People come in here and are greeted by name. That’s a personal touch, and clients like it because they know they have a relationship with us. Donna has been in the bookkeeping business for over 32 years. When she’s not crunching numbers, or thinking about crunching numbers, she’s breaking boards as a second-degree black belt in Taekwondo, HI-YA!
MEET OUR MECHANICS
From VW Beetles to forklifts, Pillsbury has fixed them all during his 38-year career. Specializing in European models. George officially started with Coastal 25 years ago in 1989 when Matthew Stewart bought out a partner. Pillsbury is an ASE Certified Master Mechanic and the go-to-guy for other mechanics. “I’ve always been mechanically inclined, I like trouble shooting.” George sums up his life and work in one word: contentment. Especially at his home-away-from-home at Coastal.
Kevin has been at Coastal since August 2014. He is a true Norfolk native through and through. He was raised in the Colonial Place neighborhood and in fact still resides there. His passions include boating, fishing and frequenting local restaurants. Kevin’s willingness to help attitude is always prevalent no matter what the task may be.
Kevin is a 20 year gear head, and is currently working on his Master Mechanic ASE certifications.
Josh is a 31 year old Norfolk resident was a service manger at Conte’s Bike and Fitness on 21st Street before joining Coastal in 2010. Working under George Pillsbury as an apprentice, Josh learned more than just how to repair vehicles; he saw first hand the value of being honest. “When we see something that is dangerous and needs to be fixed right away, we make sure the owner knows, but we never do repairs that aren’t necessary.” 4 ½ years later, Josh is now a Certified ASE Master Mechanic.
